The physical features including dermatoglyphic patterns as well as the karyotype patterns were
assesed in 113 children with Down Syndrome who had been cytogenetically confirmed in the
Department during past 5 years from August 1981.
The results are summarized as follows:
1) The sex ratio of the patients was 1.2 male to one female.

A study was made on the incidence of malformation among 8959 babies delivered at Kwangju
Christian Hospital during a period of three years starting from June 1983. The results are summarized
as follows:
1) Of 8959 newborns 243 babies (2.7%) were found to have some form of malformation. The

Two cases of Patau syndrome which had been confirmed by cytogenetic analysis at
Kwangju Christian Hospital was presented.
Two babies were low-birth-weight infants born to mothers aged 30 and 27, respectively.
No history of drugs, nor any exposure to radiation or other teratogenic agents were recalled
by their mothers. No familial history of congenital anomalies were noted.
